Sick companion

This is a combination of letters for the past two weeks:

Hey Mom! I love you guys and it was awesome to see the picture of everyone!

So sorry I couldn't email yesterday I had to take my companion to the hospital and he might need to go home from his mission... So I wasn't able to write. But I'll let you guys know what happens next week. I cant believe you guys leave for your mission tomorrow! I hope dad had an awesome fathers day and I hope he knows I love him! Love you.

Crazy week! I'm sorry I haven't been able to write much.. For basically the past month I've just been kind of taking care of Elder P! He has been struggling a lot with many different things.. And to top it off last week he got MRSA all over his legs ... So we were in the hospital all day for a week. And we had to meet with the mission president and a lot of medical people from the church etc.. But anyways Elder P ended up going home :( But it wasn't a sad experience... He knew he has some things to fix when he is home and he is excited to conquer them and come back out on a mission!

So my new companion is Elder L he is a Pompeian elder and grew up there for most his childhood! and his mom moved the family to South Carolina before he came on his mission! We get along really well! We have a lot of things in common haha! But everything is going great! We had 2 baptism dates and one coming up in July! I can't believe you're in Uganda! haha its so insane. I love you! Have a great week President and Sister Collings ;)

Meeting with Elder Renlund

We had a great week this week! We got another Baptisimal date with our investigator we have been working with!

This week we had a little over 30 hours of service haha! We had a lot of members from our ward move so we helped out with that.

Then on Friday we had Zone Conference in Kaneohe! So I was able to show my companion a little bit of my last area so he was pretty excited about that.

Saturday Elder Renlund came and visited our mission and met with all the missionaries. His whole talk was about how effective missionaries have to combine effort and a good attitude always, and if you can do that then miracles will happen. I enjoyed it a lot! Then to make it just a little better, on Sunday we had a special Stake Conference and Bishop Caussse came and spoke to our stake. haha so needless to say its a good thing today is P-Day so I can soak in some of the stuff all the great speakers had to talk about!

Everything is going great!  I'm learning a ton from my companion!

 Love You guys

Lots of lessons

This week was really good! We have another person who has a baptisimal date  and a couple more who are really close.

This week was awesome, Elder P was telling me he had never gotten over 15 lessons in a week before! So I made it a point I wanted to get a lot more than that! We ended up with 36 lessons so that made his day haha!

26 For behold, it is not meet that should command in all things; for he that is compelled in all things, the same is slothful and not wise servant; wherefore he receiveth no reward.

 27 Verily say, men should be anxiously engaged in good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness;

28 For the power is in them, wherein they are agents unto themselves. And inasmuch as men do good they shall in nowise lose their reward

I like this scripture a lot because of what it says in verse 28 "Wherein they are agents unto themselves"  It's so true that we are our best judges and that we all know how much work we can do. It  doesn't matter what other people say as long as you feel accomplished at the end of the day for the work you've done. I hope you all have a great week!

Six Months

Mililani is up in the mountains so for Hawaii it's pretty cold!  I'm living in an apartment now, and I'm in a car again. This week was good though! I spent a lot of time with Elder P, my new companion. He's a funny guy! The ward is very missionary minded so they take good care of us!

A Baptism

This week was intense haha! So I figured out this week that I'm going to get transferred! So after spending 6 months in Kaneohe I'm getting transferred to Mililani! I'm going to be follow up training Elder Price. It's bitter sweet leaving Kaneohe I really grew to love everyone here. But I'm excited for the new adventure in Mililani!

This week was very special to me because I was able to bring two people into the waters of baptism and confirm them! So now Emmarose Helewa Kamea'i'oMakaMaeUai'iLeimailani Sheffet & Tinniel Lelani Kealohapoihaole Sheffet are now members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! I can't tell you how special it was to be able to do that, it was one of the best feelings I've ever had in my life. One of my favorite scriptures when it comes to this subject is

D&C 18:10, 15-16

Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God; And if it so be that you should labor all
your days in crying repentance unto this people, and bring, save it be one soul unto me, how great
shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my Father! And now, if your joy will be great with
one soul that you have brought unto me into the kingdom of my Father, how great will be your
joy if you should bring many souls unto me!

By the way, sorry it took so long to write today! I was at a big service project and an old man had a heart attack of some sorts.. So we gave him a blessing and had to talk with the paramedics and all that... so I just got back from that and now I can only email for like 10 minutes before our next appointment!

Love you, have a good week!

Intense week

This week was pretty intense.. One of the Elders in my District had Shingles! So me and my companion covered two wards again this week. We were bouncing around appointments and taking care of him! He is doing better now and is back to work!

We had a mission wide fast on Friday! From 10:00 am to 8:00 pm all we did was tract! It was pretty crazy.. I met a lot of pit bulls that I guess don't really like Missionaries! haha But all in all it was a great day, and the mission as a whole found a lot more people to teach.

This week I wanted to share a scripture I found during my personal study Alma 36:3..
“Whosoever shall put their trust in God shall be supported in their trials, and their troubles, and their afflictions, and shall be lifted up at the last day.”
I love this verse because it very simply says that if we will just put our trust in God then he will support us and not allow us to fall with any affliction, trouble, or trial that we go through in this life. So just keep on keepin on! Always know that our Heavenly Father is looking out for us and will never let us down!! I love you all and hope your week has been fantastic!

Pictures and a Poem

This week was pretty cool! The family I told you about last week all have baptismal dates set now! It's been awesome to be able to work with them! But most of all see how good Kaneohe 3rd ward treats our investigators when they come to church! They are all really friendly and welcome them so much. Most the people that we bring want to come back just because of how friendly they are. Other than that I'm just continuing to try and work my hardest everyday and be a better instrument for the lord.

The top picture is So'o! We helped him saturday and after service he invited us to his fire dance show! So that was an awesome night haha!

Then we went on a hike this mornig with a recent convert and her friend! So that was fun!

This week my companion got sick.. So sadly I was stuck in my pad all week going crazy.. haha he's feeling better now so we're able to go work again! All is well and happy late Easter! Hope your Easter was filled with much love and centered around Jesus Christ
and family. For that was the day he broke the bands of physical and
spiritual death so we may all have the chance to live again.

I found a Poem that really touched me while I was stuck in my house haha but here it is!!

The alarm bell rings at 6:30, I stumble to my feet
I grab my companions bedding and pull off his sheets

A groan fills the room, is it already time to arise?
It seems like just a second ago, I was able to shut my eyes
The morning activities follow- study, prayer and such
When it's time to leave the apartment, you feel you haven't accomplished much

"We have a super day planned,"
My comp. says with a grin
I lowly utter a faithless breath,
"Yeah, if anyone lets us in."

With the word of God and my faithful Schwinn, we ride off in the street prepared to
Face another day of humidity and heat
It's 9:30 in the evening, the day is almost through
My champion and I are riding home not accomplishing what we thought to do

We ride up to the mailbox, hoping to receive a lot
Only to look inside and hear my echo reverberate "air Box"
We go up to our apartment, the day is now complete
The only thing to show for our work is a case of blistery feet

It's past 10:30 p.m. My companion is fast asleep,
Silence engulfs me all about and I begin to weep
In the midst of sadness, I kneel down to pray
I need to talk to father, but I'm not sure what to say

"Oh, Father" I begin, "What happened to us today?
I thought we'd teach somebody, but everyone was away
My hands, my aching hands- worn, hurt and beat;
If our area was any smaller, we'd have knocked every street"

"Why on missions are the days so much alike?
The only difference about today was the flat tire on my bike
Will you send some cooler weather? The heat is killing me
I sweat so bad, it gets in my eyes, it's very hard to see"

"Why do I have to wear a helmet, isn't your protection enough?
People always laugh at me, and call me stupid stuff
Please send us investigators so I may give them what they lack
I want to give them Books of Mormon, the weight of them hurts my back"

"And what about my family: They don't have much to say
I'm sick of not hearing from home day after day after day
Oh Father, Why am I here am I just wasting time?
Sometimes I just want to go home, I'm sorry but that's on my mind"

"My companion, Heavenly Father, what are you giving me?"
The way he rides his bicycle, I don't think he can see
Now you have it, I can't go on, I don't know what to do
That, my Father in Heaven, is the prayer I have for you"

My prayer now finished, I stand up, then jump right into bed
I need my rest for tomorrow, we have another long day ahead
Sleep start to overtake me, I seem to drift away
Then it seems a vision takes me to another time in another day

I'm standing alone on the hill. The view is very nice
A man walks to wards me and says, "My name is Jesus Christ"
Tears of joy well up inside, I fall down to His feet
"Arise," He states, "Follow me to the shade. You and I need to speak"

My attention's towards my Savior, total and complete
He says, "Your mission is similar of what happened to me
I understand how you feel, I know what you're going through
In fact, it would be fair to say I've felt the same as you"

"I even know how you felt when no one listened to you
At times I felt not quite sure what else I could do
I know you don't like to ride a bicycle, for you a car would be sweet
Just remember the donkey I rode wasn't equipped with 21 speeds"

"I understand you don't like sweating, in fact it's something you hate
I remember when I sweat blood from ev’ry pore, oh the agony was great!
I see you don't like your companion- you'd rather have someone else-
I once had a companion named Judas who sold my life for wealth"

"It's hard to wear a helmet and have people make fun of you
I remember when they put thorns on my head and called me King of the Jews
So you feel burdened down by the weight of your pack
I recall how heavy the cross was when they slammed it on my back"

"Your hands hurt from tracting and knocking on doors all day
I guess when they pounded nails into mine, I ached in a similar way
It's hard not to hear from home when your family's not there to see
I lost communication on the cross and cried, "Father, why hast Thou forsaken me?"

"We have a lot in common, but there's a difference between us you see
I endured to the end and finished my mission, so follow and do like me"
He embraced me with His arms and His light filled me with His love
With tears in my eyes I watched as He went back to the Father above

I stood with awe and wonder when a beep rang in my head
I listened and heard the alarm, then realized I was in my bed
My companion let out a groan, "6:30 already, no way!"
I sat up and said, "Come on, I'll even carry your scriptures today!"

No matter what we go through,
When we feel we can't take more
Just stop and think about Jesus Christ,
He's been there before!

I love you all and hope you have a fantastic week.
